Red Ribbon Ceremony

Part of the 2022 National Week of Action for MMIW

Please join the members of Patchen Community Square as we mark the start of National Week of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (4/29-5/5). From 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, we will be tying (compostable) red ribbons to our fence in honor of those women, girls, and two-spirit people who have been stolen, and in support of those who survive. This will be a quiet, reflective event in which we will collectively create a temporary art installation. Drop by at any time to join us. (We ask that you wear a mask when visiting our garden, out of love and respect for the most vulnerable members of our community.) Red is the color associated with the issue of MMIWG2S. You are welcome to wear something red, if you wish to, in solidarity.

Image shows text on red background. Text reads: Red ribbon ceremony for missing & murdered indigenous women, girls, and 2 spirit people. Fri April 29, 6:00-7:30PM. Patchen Community Square Garden, corner of Putnam & Patchen.

April Garden Meeting

April Membership Meeting (Thursday, April 7, 7pm to 8:30pm)

Our first meeting of the year will be held, starting at 7pm on Thursday, April 7th.

The meeting may be held in person, or over Zoom - stay tuned!

The first meeting of the year is always an important one - we've been cooking up ideas through the winter and we need the membership to give approval before they become bylaws. We won't have time for a full discussion on each issue, so look for an emailed agenda with details over the next week to familiarize yourself.

Opening Weekend Work Day with yoga and the unity mural project

We'll be in the garden for the first official workday on Saturday, April 2nd from 10am to 2pm. Come learn about compost, community beds and more! We'll be cleaning up trash from around the perimeter of the garden, tearing down the old planters, and pulling weeds

This is a great way to meet your fellow members and pick up your key once you put in your first three hours of community work! We'll also have yoga sessions for those who are interested, and an opportunity to add your mark to our continued Unity Mural Project!
